TOPIC: Creation Myths
MYTH-TELLER: Peter
Our monthly cafe get-together with yummy food and mythology!
This event will begin with a short presentation to the entire group, followed by a short discussion in the large group format. Then we'll break into smaller groups in order to facilitate more natural, intimate conversations with the other members...

TOPIC DESCRIPTION:
What do sun dogs, tarantulas, trees and ravens have in common?
All play a part in the creation myth of their respective cultures, either bringing about the creation of the world, or acting as reminders of a time past.
For ages Man has pondered where the world came from and made up stories to answer that question. From voids of darkness to a sword dipped in the sea, the stories of creation are a fascinating look into how the peoples of the earth view themselves, the world and where they came from.
We'll look at some of the common creation myth themes and look at a number of the stories that try to answer the question:
Where did it all come from (and what do sun dogs have to do with creation)?
~~~
NOTE: This talk will be on the origin myths made up by the peoples of the world. Creation stories of the Abrahamic religions (Islam, Judaism and Christianity) will not be addressed by the presenter.
